Ingredients:
3 or 4 pounds of buffalo meat, preferably from rump.
Take the buffalo meat and following the grain, cut into strips about as thick as one’s thumb and about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. Wash meat. Put in kettle and cover with cold water, no more than 1 inch over the meat. Take a ladle and mash the meat. Put on fire to boil. Boil about 45 minutes to 1 hour with no lid. Serves 12 or so.
